WEBINAR: Race and Education | Communities of Color | A Demographic Shift: From the Margins to Center Stage

2019 was a year to be remembered. While COVID-19 was the topic of discussion, for the first time in history more than half of the nation’s population under 16 identified as a racial or ethnic minority. As demographics shift in urban centers across the country, the relevance of factors like linguistic and cultural diversity are becoming more important in our national teacher workforce. According to Census data Latino or Hispanic, Asian American, and Black populations grew by rates of 20 percent, 29 percent, and 8.5 percent, respectively. This month’s Race and Education Webinar will explore what it is like to live on the margins as they celebrate the differences of our communities of color and discuss solutions that will help increase educator diversity.
