FutureU Podcast Ep. 172: So Long, Summer: We’re Back

Listen to the Podcast

To kick off Season 8, hosts Michael Horn and Jeff Selingo break down the summer’s higher ed headlines. They discuss this year’s FAFSA rollout, recent campus protest fallout, leadership changes, college closures, online program management providers, the presidential election, and high school grading.

Notably, the FAFSA is once again going to be delayed in 2024. The Department of Education announced that the form will be available to students on December 1, with select schools testing it starting October 1. The hosts note that college enrollment experts have linked the ongoing FAFSA delays to declining higher education enrollment.

“I think the last four years in higher ed has proven that we need more change and innovation and at a much faster clip,” said Selingo.
