In a new podcast, FutureEd Editorial Director Phyllis Jordan talks with the Consortium for Policy Research in Education about how governors are using the $3 billion in discretionary education dollars that Congress allotted in the CARES Act.
“Three billion for the governors to split up isn’t a ton of money in the scheme of things, but it does give us a sense of what their priorities are,” Jordan said in the conversation with CPRE Knowledge Hub managing editor Keith Heumiller.
They discussed a new analysis by FutureEd and The Hunt Institute that examines how states have allocated those funds and what the implications for policymakers, schools and other stakeholders in the midst of a lingering national recession.
