Debbie Veney is senior vice president of communications and marketing at the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. Previously, she led public policy and communications at the NewSchools Venture Fund, managed government affairs and communications at the Education Trust and has held senior communications positions at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Communities In Schools. Veney serves on the boards of the Education Writers Association and the D.C. Jazz Festival. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Howard University and a master’s degree in mass communications from Temple University.
