Jason Okonofua is an assistant professor of psychology at University of California-Berkeley. His work includes investigations into the psychological barriers that hinder relationships among teachers and students, as well as officers and civilians, and contribute to less access to education and more entry into the criminal justice system. His mindset interventions have been found to halve exclusionary discipline (i.e., suspensions) rates and meaningfully reduce incarceration rates. They have also significantly mitigated inequities in these pivotal outcomes.
