Governors are leveraging their 2025 State-of-the-State addresses to propose a range of strategies for improving their education systems, including changes to school funding formulas and increased school aid, school choice initiatives, protections for youth mental health through cell phone bans and social media regulations, and investments in early education and higher education systems.
FutureEd is analyzing these speeches to highlight state leaders’ education-related initiatives. While many governors celebrate past achievements in their addresses, our focus is on the new proposals they introduce that shape their education agendas for the coming year. We will continue to update our tracker as more speeches are delivered.
